NAWABSHAH, Oct 25: The first case of dengue fever here was detected on Sunday.

Ali Mohammed Bhatti, 18, of Unnar Mohalla in Qazi Ahmed was admitted to medical unit-II of People’s Medical College Hospital with a complaint of fever and bleeding.

Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr Agha Iftikhar told this reporter that as the patient was a suspected case of dengue fever, he was kept in the isolation cube.

When tests for dengue were conducted, the result was positive, he said, adding that his condition was much better on Monday as his platelets count was 130,000.

He said the patient was under strict surveillance.
