KARACHI, Oct 26: Favourite Omer Shahid eased into the semi-finals of the men's singles event after his quarter-final opponent Mohammad Abdul retired from the match in the 10th STA Development Series Tennis Championship at the CDGK Sports Complex here on Tuesday.
Omer took the first set 7-6. Saeed in the second set decided to retire due to exhaustion.
Meanwhile, Mustafa Zaidi also secured a place in the semi-finals of the event registering a 6-0, 6-3 win against Asadullah in the last-eight encounter. Zaid Noor Sumar defeated Sikander Hayat Khan recording a 6-1, 7-6 win to confirm his presence in the last four.
Uroosa Ahmed cruised into the semi-finals of ladies singles' event after thrashing Waniya Khan 8-1 in the quarter-final.
Farhan Mustafa eased into the semi-finals of junior U-17 singles event, after getting a walkover against Sarwan Memon. Mustafa Zaidi qualified for the last-four stage of the event after beating Sanwal Memon 6-2, 6-1.
