CHITRAL, Oct 26: MNA from Chitral Shahzada Mohiuddin has said the construction of Booni-Buzund-Shagram road will go a long way in alleviating poverty in the backward area of Torkhow where natural resource management has not been possible for want of proper road infrastructure.

He was addressing a public gathering at Shagram on the occasion of inaugurating groundbreaking ceremony of the road. He expressed his gratitude to the prime minister for his special grant for the road.

Mr Mohiuddin added that due to the remoteness and hard topography of the area, no government in the past had provided sufficient funds for the construction of the road which passes through a chain of mountains for over twenty miles. He said the federal government had initially allocated a hefty sum of Rs350 million for the project. The lawmaker said that the fate of the residents of the area would be changed after the completion of the road, which would also help exploiting natural resource and tourism potential of the area.

Mr Mohiuddin directed the communication and works department to ensure completion of the project within the stipulated period with quality. —Correspondent
