ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday said the significance of Pakistan’s role in establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan was indisputable.

Addressing a conference titled “Pakistan-Afghanistan: Towards Mutual Security, Stability and Trade”, organised by the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), Qureshi asserted that the Pak-Afghan transit trade agreement reflected Pakistan’s interest in Afghanistan’s progress and prosperity. He also endorsed the reconciliation process for establishing peace in the neighbouring country.

Later, speaking to media representatives, Qureshi said Pakistan was also making efforts to promote regional peace.

“We are not afraid of Indo-US ties…Pakistan has its own importance in regional peace,” Qureshi said.
