SWABI, Nov 12: Two young sisters died one after the other due a mysterious disease here in Tordher village on Friday, family sources said.

Mehreen, 5, died at a local hospital within an hour after she was admitted. Later, her sister Sana, 3, also fell ill and was taken to the same hospital.

She also expired within three hours. The doctors at the hospital were unable to trace the cause of their death.

Meanwhile, two people were killed here on Friday in separate incidents. Police said that Khayal Muhammad was killed and his father Miraj Muhammad seriously injured when their rivals opened fire on them in Swabi city.

Registering FIR, the injured Miraj said that he was on his way home along with his son when one Mukamil Shah and his brother Zahir Shah opened fire on them. As a result, Miraj's son was killed on the spot while he himself suffered serious bullet injuries.

In Topi, a ninth grade student was seriously injured when pistol of his friend reportedly went off incidentally.

He was rushed to the civil hospital, Topi, where doctors pronounced him dead.

However, doctors could not determine the disease that caused sudden death of the two sisters. SUGAR PRICE: The district administration officials have refused to take action against sugar traders and retailers or fix price of the commodity till its smooth supply is restored in the district.

Sugar price touched Rs120/kg in urban areas while in rural Swabi shopkeepers had been fleecing consumers by charging them at their own free will.

The consumers have demanded of the district administration to ensure availability of the commodity on the open market and determine and implement its price.

They alleged that the utility stores gave sugar to influential people only and ordinary consumers were ignored.

Some of them also complained about low quality of sugar at the utility stores.

Meanwhile, gur (raw sugar) traders have also increased price of the commodity.

Five kilogrammes good quality gur was selling at Rs300-350 here about a week ago, but the same gur was now selling at Rs450.

Consumers have also demanded of the district administration to control gur prices. BLOOD DONATED: A two-day blood donation camp was organised by medical center of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology for Fatimeed Foundation while keeping in view the need of thalassaemia patients.

The camp was organised in collaboration with the Project Topi, a society of the GIK institute students.

The organisers said that remedial measures were direly needed to control thalassaemia and help all those suffering from the disease.

Dr Samia Yasmin of the GIKI medical center said that over 160 blood bags were donated by the students and staff members.
