Prominent members from Pakistan’s entertainment and lifestyle industry have been actively working to provide relief to the victims of the floods that recently devastated the country.

From the music industry, Hadiqa Kiyani has been at the forefront of this effort and has travelled to Muzaffargarh and other affected areas, has appealed for donations in various educational institutions, appeared in telethons and has personally distributed goods to the affectees. At the moment she is helping construct housing facilities in Nowshera.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s own superstar tennis player Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi has also been actively involved in flood-relief efforts. He has repeatedly spoken about the issue and has made appeals during his various media appearances and matches.

Keeping their service in mind, the United Nations has appointed both Hadiqa and Aisam as Goodwill Ambassadors for Early Recovery and they will be working under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Other UN ambassadors actively working under the UNDP include the Crown Prince Magnus from Norway, Antonio Banderas (actor) from the United States, Maria Sharapova (tennis player) from Russia, Ronaldo (football player) from Brazil, Zadien Zedan (football player) from France, Didier Drogba (football player) from United Kingdom and Misako Konno (TV personality) from Japan.
