SWABI, Nov 20 Lack of arrangements by tehsil municipal administrations (TMAs) to quickly dispose of offal and other waste of sacrificial animals in Swabi and its other tehsils has polluted the environment which might cause various diseases.

Officials said that the highly toxic remains of animals had badly polluted the environment, as the TMAs failed to chalk out a cleanliness plan for the Eid days.

Insiders said that TMA offices of Swabi, Topi, Chota Lahor and Razaar tehsils remained closed for Eid holidays and the staff remained off duty even on Saturday.

Residents told this correspondent that waste from sacrificial animals was scattered everywhere creating stinking smell. According to reports, in some areas people clashed over throwing of offal near their houses.

They complained that none of the four TMAs planned to pick offal while people disposed of animal waste near main roads or in open spaces, causing pollution.
