ISLAMABAD, Nov 11: Shahbaz Bhatti, the president Christian Liberation Front (CLF), has expressed his concern over the failure of the government in arresting the killers of 16 people in a terrorist attack on a church in Bahawalpur.

In a press statement here on Sunday, the CLF chief once again appealed to the government to arrest the real culprits and tell the nation that who had hatched this conspiracy.

“The terrorists are still at large and as such, the feelings of deprivation and insecurity are intensifying in the cross section of the minorities”, he added.

Mr Bhatti said the local administration should devise strategies to curb terrorism so that the people belonging to minorities could realize some sense of safety and security. He demanded that all terrorists’ organizations and militant wings of the religious and political parties should be completely disarmed and banned. This was necessary to safe the country from untoward situation in future, he said.

The CLF president reiterated that Christians and other religious minorities in Pakistan were sons of the soil and as such, they should not be termed aliens or immigrants. He emphasized that minorities should be treated as equal citizens.

Shahbaz Bhatti further said the government should take prompt and appropriate measures to compensate and rehabilitate the victims of the Bahawalpur tragedy.
