BANNU / GHALANAI, Nov 30: A suicide bomber blew himself up near a police van in Bannu on Tuesday, killing six people, including a constable.

Witnesses said the van was passing through the town's main bazaar when the explosion took place.

Constable Safeerullah and four civilians were killed on the spot and 21 people were injured.

The injured were taken to the district headquarters hospital where one of them, Murad Ali, died. Two critically injured people were taken to Peshawar.

A head, said to be of the bomber, was found at the blast site.

Police raided hotels and other places in the town and rounded up about 100 people.
