RECENTLY the IBA Sukkur conducted a test for a foundation course to a scholarship programme for poor and flood victims of Sindh announced by the government of Sindh in collaboration with IBA Sukkur.
It was rather sad to see how mismanaged the test venue was at the institute. No doubt, students were not charged anything for appearing in the test.
However, it was a test for a foundation course of a scholarship, and the government must have paid for it. There was a long queue of candidates across the main road.
There was no seating arrangement either for the relatives who came with candidates, especially women candidates, from far-flung rural areas of Sindh.
The test was an objective MCQs type. The IBA authorities instructed the candidates to return the question paper.
Neither the question paper nor a duplicate copy of the answer sheet has been provided to the candidates. Hence, there stands no proof with the candidates about their number of right or wrong answers or marks secured thereto.
On the contrary, students are instructed to visit the website of IBA Sukkur where the result will be published.
It was a pre-requisite for transparency to provide a proof to the candidates in either of the above forms. Now it solely depends upon the clerical staff of IBA Sukkur whether to make or mar the future of hundreds of poor and talented candidates.
The IBA Sukkur is an institution of repute and credibility. Therefore, senior officials in the institution must look into the process of test result for transparency to ensure the credibility and prestige of the institute.
