KARACHI: Pakistan duo of Imran Shahzad and Sohail Shahzad cruised into the last-64 round of the IBSF World snooker championship in Damascus, Syria, after their matches on Thursday.

Drawn in group 'H', Sohail was trailing 1-2 after three frames but won the last three to overcome Lin Tang Ho of Hong Kong 4-2 (85-49, 14-68, 52-64, 69-67, 68-36, 70-26) to confirm his passage into the knockout rounds.

Imran with superb cue control kept Switzerland's Franz Stahli under pressure while recording 87-33, 68-20, 62-25, 94-1 victory.

After Friday's rest day, Pakistan's Mohammad Sajjad will take on New Zealand's Garry Gillard, Sohail Shahzad face Egypt's Maged Shafik and Imran Shahzad clash group topper Scotlands Bobby Cruickshanks.

Earlier on Thursday, Sajjad strengthened his chances for a place in the last-64 round when he defeated Janne Hakkinen of Finland 4-1. —APP
