Inter-club hockey

KARACHI, Dec 11: Rauf XI and National Hockey Club reached the final of the Karachi Inter-club Hockey Tournament at the Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP) on Saturday.

The first semi-final saw Rauf XI edging out Yazik Hockey Club 4-3 on penalty strokes. Rizwan Khan, Irfan Khan, Sumair Saleem and Junaid Iqbal converted the penalties for the winners while Uzair Ahmed, Ali Hassan and Wasim Aslam found the net for the losing side.

National Hockey Club beat Karachi Water and Sewage Board (KWSB) 5-1 in the second semi-final. Olympian Abbas Haider bagged a hat-trick when he scored for the winners in the 14th, 33rd and 37th minutes while Olympian Sameer Hussain (40th and 41st mins) got two. KWSB's consolation goal was scored by Aale Imran (47th min).

Earlier in the remaining two quarter-finals played late on Friday evening, Karachi Water and Sewage Board (KWSB) beat Telecom Gymkhana 3-1 while Rauf XI also beat their opponents OISSA 3-1.

The final will be played at 3.00pm at the HCP on Monday.
