KARACHI: Pakistan's Mohammad Sajjad stormed into the last-64 round of the IBSF World snooker championship on Saturday.
According to the information received here, Sajjad came from 0-3 down to register an exciting 4-3 victory over Garry Gilliard of New Zealand at the Faiha Sports City Hall in Damascus, Syria.Gilliard was at his best when he won the first three frames to put his Pakistani opponent under pressure. But Asian number two Sajjad reaffirmed his class by snatching the next four frames to ultimately winning the match.
The scores were 23-63, 37-54, 28-63, 66-57, 109-02, 131-01, 80-42.
Sajjad has ended second in seven-men pool 'A' with five wins and one loss to group lead Noppadol Sangnil of Thailand. Pakistan's other two cueists Imran Shahzad and Sohail Shahzad have already qualified for the last-64 stage.—APP
