Inter-club hockey

KARACHI, Dec 13: National Hockey Club lifted the Karachi Inter-club Hockey Tournament title and the Rs20,000 cash prize that came along with it at the Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP) here on Monday.

They beat Rauf XI 4-2 in the final. Mudassar Abbas (ninth and 58th min) scored two with Imran Khan (25th min) and Aijaz Rasool (35th min) adding one each for National Hockey Club. Meanwhile, Jan Mohammad (45th min) and Farid Ahmed (51st min) reduced the margin for Rauf XI.

Later, Deputy Director Customs Habib Ahmed distributed the trophies and prizes among the winners. Runners-up Rauf XI had to remain content with the second prize of Rs10,000.

Meanwhile, Olympian Abbas Haider of National Hockey Club was named best player of the tournament and Fahad Afridi of Yazik Hockey Club the best goalkeeper. Both received special trophies.
