KARACHI: The International Hockey Federation (FIH) announced its All-Star teams which features 36 players, including Pakistan’s forward Rehan Butt.

Butt shot on to the big stage with his phenomenal performance at the 2002 Champions Trophy and since then has become an integral part of the Pakistan side. In 2010, he was part of the World Cup team which finished at the bottom of the table but played an instrumental role in helping Pakistan win the Asian Games gold medal this year.

The former national captain, who has earned many plaudits for his skill, has previously received recognition as Asia’s Best Hockey Player and was also named in the FIH All-Star team in 2008.

Butt also won bronze medals with Pakistan in the 2002, 2003 and 2004 Champions Trophy.

Talking to a private news channel from Kaula Lumpur, where he is set to participate in the Malaysian Hockey League (MLH), Butt said he was pleased to receive such an honour and that he wished to achieve more success for Pakistan.
