KARACHI: Paceman Aizaz Cheema continued his dream run in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Cricket Championship with figures of 6-69 as PIA sent Division One leaders Habib Bank crashing to 211 all out on the opening day of the ninth-round fixture at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Sunday.

Aizaz ripped through the top-order with five of the six wickets which HBL lost for mere 49 runs before former Test wicket-keeper Humayun Farhat struck 82 off 75 balls with nine fours and two sixes to add some respectability to the total.

PIA went to stumps on a high note at 52-0 in reply.

Second-placed Wapda reached 256-8 against National Bank at the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot with Riffatullah Mohmand contributing an undefeated 86. But the day belonged to Pakistan wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal. The National Bank skipper excelled with six catches, including four off paceman Mohammad Talha.

Former Pakistan opener Yasir Hameed fell five short of scoring a century as ZTBL piled up 294-5 against SNGPL at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Apart from Yasir's 95 off 132 balls with 10 boundaries, Shahid Yousuf scored 80 while Haris Sohail is still at the crease with 51.

Medium-pacer Prince Abbas grabbed 6-26 to help Sialkot bundle out Faisalabad for a paltry first-innings score of 88 at the Sports Stadium in Sargodha. Sialkot were 146-6 at close of play.

Multan skipper Abdur Rauf took 5-50 and his new-ball partner Tahir Maqsood 4-57 to dismiss Rawalpindi for 153 at the Gymkhana Club Ground in Okara. But Multan, who have lost all eight matches in the championship, yet again fared dismally as they collapsed for 112. Paceman Rizwan Akbar captured 6-50.

Karachi Blues were bowled out for 237 in their first innings against Islamabad at the Diamond Club Ground. The hosts reached 20-1 at stumps.

PTV, who are fighting to avoid being relegated from the first-class segment for next season, amassed 372-6 against current Division Two table-toppers State Bank at the Marghazar Cricket Ground with Awais Zia stealing the show with an unbeaten 216.

KRL dominated action at the KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi as Quetta were skittled out for only 45. The destroyers being opening bowlers Yasir Arafat and Mohammad Irfan who bowled unchanged to claim 4-26 and 6-19, respectively.

Asif Zakir slammed an unbeaten 106 to help Karachi Whites reach 256-3 versus Abbottabad at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.

In the two matches in Lahore, Peshawar were struggling at 82-4 despite bowling Lahore Ravi for 193 at the Gaddafi Stadium, while Lahore Shalimar made slow progress to make 190-6 against Hyderabad at the LCCA Ground.
