PESHAWAR: Army, Navy and Wapda scored comfortable wins in their opening volleyball ties of the 31st National Games on Sunday.

National champions Wapda took on hosts Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in the opening match of the day at Peshawar’s Qayyum Stadium, and won the match in straight sets with a score of 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-16).

In the second match of the day, Pakistan Army brushed aside Police in another straight-sets win (25-21, 25-15, 25-12) to enter the second round.

Runners-up of the 2010 National Volleyball Championship, Navy, also strolled into the second round with a 3-0 (25-21 25-23 25-18) win over Pakistan Air Force.
