EU team meets candidates in Attock

ATTOCK, Sept 29: A two-member delegation of European Union (EU) called on candidates of various parties during its visit to the district to review election arrangements.

Peter Michael and Piller House held meetings with PML-N candidate for NA-57 Sheikh Suleman Sarwar, PML candidate for PP- 15 Dr Waseem Ahmed Siddique, PPP’s candidate for NA-57 Sheikh Ehsanuddin advocate, Malik Shahan Khan, contesting for PP-15 and PML-Q’s candidate for PP-15 Sardar Humayun Akbar.

The EU delegation discussed with them the election process in the district, the turn-out in the local government polls and the last general elections. They also discussed various other issues related to electioneering.

During their meeting with the EU delegation, Sheikh Ehsanuddin advocate and Malik Shahan of PPP alleged that government machinery was being utilized to support PML-Q.

The delegation also met PML-N leader Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, who said his party would win a majority of seats in the district.

Earlier, the delegates visited the district election office and observed different aspects of the election arrangements.

Talking to journalists, they said they were not allowed to make their observations open and were only authorized to submit their report to the European Union headquarters. They said such meetings were a routine matter.
