TOBA TEK SINGH, Jan 3: A man was murdered allegedly by his wife and her lover on Sunday night in Chak 333-JB in Gojra area.

According to the Nawan Lahore police, Parveen, a mother of four children, had relations with Saeed Ahmed of the same village. Her husband, Abdul Hameed, would often exchange harsh words with her over the issue.

On Monday, Parveen and her lover tortured Hameed, threw acid on his face and later murdered him with a sharp-edged weapon.

The police have arrested both the accused and registered a case against them under Section 302 of the PPC on the complaint of deceased’s brother Abdul Sattar.

MARTYRED: An army subedar belonging to Toba Tek Singh was martyred in an operation against extremists in Swat.

The body of subedar Nisar Ahmad was brought here on Monday evening by an Okara military contingent.

Scores of area people attended his funeral prayers in his native village 286-JB.

SCHOLARSHIPS: DCO Amanullah Khan, as chairman of the district benevolent fund board, has approved educational scholarships for 1,328 children of 473 government employees.

According to a press release issued on Monday, funeral expenditures were also approved for 449 deceased employees while the financial assistance from benevolent funds was also granted to 2,367 widows of government servants.

DIES: Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam Jorra, the former chairman of the Toba district council, died here after a protracted illness.

He was the uncle of former PML-N federal minister of state Chaudhry Asadur Rehman and Supreme Court judge Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday.

A large number of people, including politicians, government officers, judges and traders, attended his funeral prayers in his native village 323-GB near Pirmahal on Sunday night.
