SWABI, Jan 6: The Zaida team won the one-month-long district Kabaddi tournament (DKT), which concluded here on Thursday, giving people a rare opportunity of sports and entertainment. The organisers of the Kabaddi tournament said that the entertainment activities like 'Mukha' and various other local games and cultural events could not be held in the district due to terrorism.

The tournament was sponsored by overseas Pakistanis from America and a number of them also reached here to witness the competition. About 20,000 to 25,000 people watched the Kabaddi matches daily. On the final day a big crowd of people, both locals and guests from other districts, had gathered to enjoy the match. Teams from all over the district participated in the competition.

An official of the district administration said that the competition rejuvenated and reenergised the people. “It was an extraordinary competition and the government would extend support to the people if they organise such events in future,” he said.

In nearly two hours of the final contest the Zaida team got 31 points while Dodhar team could get 22 points.
