QUETTA, Jan 8: Police arrested six people, including two activists of an outlawed religious organisation, and recovered illegal arms and ammunition from them on Saturday.

Speaking at a press conference, DIG (operations) for Quetta Hamid Shakeel said that following a tip-off raids were carried out in different localities of the city and six suspects were arrested.

A Kalashnikov, 10 hand grenades, a pistol and a large quantity of ammunition was recovered from them.

“The arrested suspects include two important members of an outlawed group involved in various criminal cases,” he said. The suspects were being interrogated.

He said the other suspects were involved in kidnapping for ransom and other heinous crimes. They were identified as Abdul Malik, Samiullah, Hafizullah, Fazlur Rehman and Omar Shah.

However, Mr Shakeel did not disclose the names of the two suspects who were said to be members of a proscribed group.
