KARACHI, Jan 14: State Bank opened their account in the Division Two segment of the National One-day Cup with a convincing six-wicket victory over Karachi Zebras at the NBP Sports Complex here on Friday.

Chasing a target of 256, the bankers were home with 26 deliveries to spare in the Group 'A' fixture largely due to fine batting by opener Shoaib Khan, who retired hurt after scoring 54, Adnan Raees (51) and Naved Yasin (65).

Earlier, Karachi Zebras made 255-7 after being asked to bat first. The highlight of their innings being a four-wicket partnership of 109 between Wajihuddin (65) and Rameez Aziz who finished on 76 not out.

Opener Sharjeel Khan struck an undefeated 129 (107 balls, 16 fours and three sixes) to help Hyderabad Hawks trounce Quetta Bears by eight wickets in the other Group 'A' tie at the Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad.

In Group 'B' matches, Lahore Eagles struggled to a tense two-wicket victory over Peshawar Panthers at the LCCA Ground in Lahore while KRL made 166-3 in 36 overs before rain forced an abandonment of their game against Abbottabad Falcons at Swabi's Gohati Cricket Stadium. sport
