SWABI, Jan 18: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl has criticised the provincial government for neglecting district Swabi in allocation of developmental fund.
“The small chunk allocated to the district from Chief Minister Special Fund negates the claim of Awami National Party leaders that Swabi is their stronghold and they want its progress,” said former provincial minister Maulana Fazal Ali here on Tuesday.
Presiding over a meeting and later addressing a public gathering in Tandkohi, the JUI-F leader said that Rs295 million were allocated to Mardan, the home district of chief minister, while Swabi got only Rs4 million.
He also criticised ANP ministers and lawmakers, belonging to the district. “It is a slap on the face of ANP lawmakers, who belong to the district and have rendered tremendous sacrifices for the Wali Bagh leaders,” he added.
He recalled that ANP former provincial president Begum Nasim Wali Khan said after 2002 elections that people of Swabi honoured her party instead of the residents of Charsadda.
“However, Swabi is neglected in distribution of funds,” he added. He urged the people to see the details of funds allocated to other districts and compared the same with that of Swabi.
Meanwhile, MPA Sikandar Irfan has condemned the target killings of Pakhtuns in Karachi.
“It is the responsibility of the government to provide security to Pakhtuns,” he said, adding PPP should not have alliance with Muttahida Qaumi Movement at the cost of Pakhtuns.
