QUETTA: The chief of the provincial chapter of Jamhoori Watan Party, Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti, has called for withdrawal of security forces from Dera Bugti and Sui.

Mr Bugti and his 26 security guards were released from Quetta district jail on Tuesday after grant of bail by the Balochistan High Court. Hundreds of flag-waving JWP supporters reached the jail and chanted slogans in support of Mr Bugti.

Talking to newsmen, Mr Bugti said a march on Dera Bugti would take place against all odds. “We will launch a peaceful long march on Jan 28 to Dera Bugti since it is our hometown. Nobody can stop us from doing so,” he said. The JWP leader, however, said that after reaching Dera Bugti, angry Baloch brothers would be consulted and brought back to their areas. He said that apart from Quetta, Bugti tribesmen and political workers from Karachi and Lahore would take part in the long march.

The JWP leader said the widow of Nawab Akbar Bugti would lead the march.

“If obstacles are placed in the way of the long march, the entire responsibility for consequences would be with the government,” he said.

Strict security measures were put in place following the release of Mr Bugti.
