KARACHI: Lyari Town and Kalakot (UC-10) won their quarter-final encounters to complete the last four lineup of the KESC Lyari Football League at the Shaheed Abdul Rehman Park on Friday.

The third quarter-final saw Lyari Town beating Hub 2-0 with Maqbool Ahmed (36th min) and Zohaib Ahmed (57th min) scoring for them. Maqbool was later also named the Man of the Match.

The last quarter-final was played between Kalakot and Baghdadi (UC-5) and the former beat the latter 6-4 on penalty kicks after the score line remained deadlocked at 1-1 during regulation time. Kalakot were given the lead in the eighth minute by Waqas-ur-Rehman and Baghdadi equalised through Shahzeb Rehman in the 50th minute. Later, Mohsin, Nauman Imam Bakhsh, Waqas-ur-Rehman, Shahzeb and Asif Nawaz converted the penalties for Kalakot. For Baghdadi, Yasin, Shahnawaz Saeed and Zubair Ahmed did the needful.

The highlight of the match was the performance of Kalakot's goalkeeper Nauman Murad. Brilliant under the bar, he stopped two penalties including one by Baghdadi's captain Zeeshan Asghar.

The matches were supervised by Abdul Aziz, Abdul Karim, Dad Rehman, Ansar Javed, Farid Ahmed, Ansar Javed, Shahid Ismail and Jalal Ahmed under Match Commissioner Yaqoob Baloch.

Saturday's fixtures: Semi-finals — Singolane v Nawalane (2.00pm); Lyari Town v Baghdadi (4.00pm). Venue: Shaheed Abdul Rehman Park.
