Mardan bar polls

MARDAN, Jan 22: Two panels of lawyers have announced names of their candidates for the election of district bar association Mardan scheduled to be held on Jan 29, says a press release issued here on Saturday.

The PPP-ANP alliance of lawyers nominated Khan Ghawas Khan, Amir Hussain, Shakeel Zada, Nisar Ahmad and Ishfaq Ahmad Turo for the posts of president, vice president, general secretary, finance secretary and joint secretary, respectively.

The other panel ‘Democratic Alliance’ which includes lawyers from other political parties, named Abdur Rashid Pirzada, Akbar Hoti, Mohammad Amir Rafiq, Syyed Arif Shah and Javed Shah for president, vice president, general secretary, finance secretary and joint secretary slots, respectively.

A thrilling contest is expected between the two panels as candidates have accelerated their campaign to win more votes. —Correspondent
