KARACHI: The inaugural Pakistan-Iran Snooker series will be held at Kaish Island, Iran from March 3-7, Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) announced on Monday.

“The series between the two countries was discussed during World Snooker Championship in Damascus last December and was given the final shape a few days ago,” PBSA Chief Alamgir Shaikh told APP here.

He said the series was initiated by H.Eskandari, the Chief of Iranian Snooker Federation, adding that the team for the event will be picked on the performance of the national cueists last year.

The three-member team is expected to be picked from Muhammad Sajjad, Imran Shehzad, Sohail Shehzad and Shehram Changezi.

Alamgir said series will be played on double league basis with two singles and a doubles and reverse singles and doubles on the best of seven frames.

He said the hosts Iranian Snooker Federation will be provide boarding/lodging, air passage and appearance money to Pakistan players.

The series will be an annual feature between two nations and will be played on reciprocal basis.

The Iranian team is scheduled to visit Pakistan in 2012.
