PESHAWAR: Central President of Awami National Party (ANP), Asfandyar Wali Khan said that bleak night in the wake of increasing trend of extremism is going to end very soon as victory in fight against terrorism is imminent.

He expressed these views here on Wednesday at Nishter Hall while addressing the party workers on the occasion of joint death anniversary of ANP founding leaders, Bacha Khan and Wali Khan.

The ceremony was also attended by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Amir Haider Hoti, Senior Minister of KPK, Bashir Bilour, Senator Haji Adeel, Provincial Ministers including Aaqil Shah, Mian Iftikhar, Wajid Khan and a number of party leaders.

Asfandyar Wali Khan said ANP has achieved its agenda for which the party was formed and our elders rendered sacrifices.

Our party founders, Bacha Khan, Wali Khan and there colleagues rendered matchless sacrifices for attainment of provincial rights, changing name of province to give it a proper identity and maintenance of peace in the region.

Now, we have succeeded in attaining provincial autonomy and changing name of the province.

However, as far as the goal of maintaining peace in the region is concerned, we are struggling for it and rendering matchless sacrifices which will very soon bear fruits, Asfandyar added.

He said the black era of militancy and extremism is going to end very soon and the society will be purged from such elements who wanted to take us toward backwardness and illiteracy.

“Soon after succeeding in fight against extremism, we all will go to the mausoleum of Bacha Khan in Afghanistan to tell our forefather that your struggle is completed. The objectives for which you sacrificed your life are all achieved.”

Asfandyar also praised President Asif Ali Zardari for fulfilling his commitment made with ANP leadership. He said Zardari had promised him for extending support in attainment of provincial autonomy and changing name of province.

Zardari has fulfilled his commitment and now ANP leadership will never back from its support to his government.

“We do not practice politics of opportunism, rather our politics is based on principles,” Asfandyar remarked.

Referring to Karachi problem, ANP president said the carnage can be stopped through holding dialogue and during the process of negotiation people of all ethnicity be given due importance.

He said if MQM consider that Pukhtoons have no right to live in Karachi, this problem cannot be resolved. The Mohajirs have to realize that Karachi is the home of all Pakistanis and not belong to people of specific ethnicity.

The ceremony was also addressed by Ehsan Wyne, Central Vice President of ANP and ANP Sind President, Shahi Sayed.

A large number of ANP workers attended death anniversary of the founding leaders of the party and expressed the resolve of continuing the efforts being made by Bacha Khan and Wali Khan for the progress and development of the region. – APP
