RAWALPINDI, Feb 1: An anti-terrorism court sent the two police officers arrested in Benazir Bhutto assassination case to Adiyala jail on Tuesday after the FIA did not seek their further custody.
The Federal Investigation Agency's joint investigation team submitted before ATC-III Judge Rana Nisar Ahmed that the physical custody of former Rawalpindi CPO Saud Aziz and SP Khurram Shahzad was no longer required because it had completed its investigation.The investigators said the arrested officers had not cooperated with them during the 24-day custody and they could not obtain the cell phone sets which were in the policemen's use when the former prime minister was killed outside Liaquat Bagh. The cell phones submitted by the officers were not in their use on Dec 27, 2007, they added.
The two police officers are accused of hastily hosing down the crime scene, stopping Ms Bhutto's post-mortem and removing personnel from the security detail of former premier.
