Where some streets in Karachi are popular for their book-stalls and others for their eateries, Botal (bottle) Gali, as the name suggests, is well-known for its collection of second-hand bottles, which can be bought and sold for various prices.
Here, you can find a variety of colourful and beautifully carved bottles available in a range of sizes. The most common ones are the plastic and glass ones, especially the smaller palm-sized bottles used by the local perfume and ittar industry. Of course, many bottles found here are also used solely for decoration purposes – the key is to scout relentlessly until you find the perfect one. – Photos by Eefa Khalid and Hussain Afzal, text by Suhail Yusuf/Dawn.com
