KARACHI: Pakistan’s highest rated International Master Mahmood Ahmed Lodhi won the Friendship House Chess Championship which concluded at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture. Lodhi mustered 5.5 points in the six-round competition with five wins and a draw. National Master Aziz Farooqi was runners-up with 4.5 points.

Veteran International Master Shahzad Mirza secured third spot with 4.5 points. Jahangir Ahmed (4.5), Imtiaz Ahmed (4.00) and NM Asad Rampuri (4.00) finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Syed Irshad Ali won the ‘B’ category event with four and half points. Siddique Ali was second and Siddique Shahid was third.—APP
