THIS refers to huge garbage dumps scattered almost everywhere in Hyderabad. When burnt, these dumps compound the misery of the people, exposing them to the danger of lung cancer and other respiratory diseases. Besides, the bad sanitary condition raises the risk of contracting vector-borne diseases. All city hospitals are full of people having gastrointestinal problems or those who are suffering from cholera, which is spreading through these heaps of garbage.

Besides, the inorganic material pollutes our environment as it emits poisonous gases in the form of smoke that is 25 times more harmful than carbon dioxide.

It seems to be deliberate negligence by the municipal administration. It is imperative to dump the refuse outside the city for a cleaner environment and for the sake of health of city residents.
