TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 8: Villagers and irrigation department employees plugged a 65-foot breach in Jhang Branch Canal between Gojra and Janiwala after hectic struggle of several hours on Sunday night.

The cause of the breach, which resulted in inundating crops of sugarcane, cotton, maize and fodder over hundreds of acres, could not be known.

LOOTED: Four dacoits on Monday looted a shop and took away Rs60,000 from its owner at gunpoint on the Shorkot Road.

Dacoits entered a kerosene shop and thrashed its owner for putting up resistance. Later, they fled with the booty.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.
