KARACHI, Feb 18: The 14th Sindh Sports Board (SSB) ranking tennis championship commenced at the DHA Central Club on Friday. Qualifying rounds of men’s singles and juniors’ under-17 singles were played on the opening day.

Results:

Men’s singles:

Qualifying round one: Arshad Abrar bt Rabiuddin 8-0; Mohib Alvi bt Ahsan Ahmer 8-0; Naveed Fazail bt Changez Hasan 8-4.

Qualifying round two: Fahad Anwar bt Robin Das 8-3; Abdullah Khan bt Fahad Naseem 8-1; Mubashir Afridi bt Ahsan Ehtisham 8-0; Yahya Gabol bt Arshad Abrar 8-6; Sikander Hayat Khan bt Afzal Ali 8-4.

Juniors’ under-17 singles:

Qualifying round one: Afzal Ali bt Saad Ahmed 8-1.

Saturday’s fixtures:

Juniors under-17 singles qualifying rounds 9.00am; boys under-13 singles qualifying rounds 11.00am; men’s singles qualifying rounds 12noon; boys and girls under-15 singles qualifying rounds 2.00pm; seniors 45 singles and doubles 6.00pm.—Sports Correspondent
