KARACHI, Feb 18: Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad on Friday said that work on all roads around and under the Banaras flyover would be completed within the next three months.
Accompanied by Chief Minister Qiam Ali Shah and others, the governor informed the people about the ongoing work while inaugurating one track of the Banaras flyover.
Giving a briefing about the flyover to the governor and the chief minister on the occasion, city government officials said that having a length of 1.64 kilometres and a width between 24 and 27 metres, it was the largest flyover in the country. They said that the flyover had 862 pillars and 350 girders. They said that the flyover was being constructed at a cost of over Rs1.15 billion and around Rs850 million was being spent on the improvement of surrounding roads.
They said while work on one track of the flyover was under way, the other track was being opened to ease traffic congestion on surrounding roads.
Sindh Ministers for Home Zulfikar Mirza, Local Bodies Siraj Durani, Information Technology Raza Haroon, Health Sagheer Ahmad, Labour Amir Nawab, DCO Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed and others were also present at the inauguration.
