ATTOCK, Feb 22: A sum of Rs472 million has been allocated for construction of a proper Comsats Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) University at Attock and work on electrical engineering department has been started.

This was stated by CIIT Rector Dr Syed Junaid Zaidi while addressing the students and faculty members at the inauguration of spring tree plantation campaign at the site of new under-construction Comsats campus here on Tuesday.

He also expressed the hope that much awaited BS electronic programme would start in August this year at the campus.

Among others, Director Comsats Institute of Information Technology Attock campus Air Commodore (retired) Sherzada Khan, Pioneer Director Dr Mohammad Azeem and Registrar Malik Saleem were also present on the occasion.

The rector said besides recruitment of faculties, they had already started procurement of required equipments, furniture and other logistics for BS electronic programme.

“The progamme will not only help improve the overall students enrolment at the Attock campus, but it will also meet pressing demand of electrical engineers for defence installation like Pakistan Aeronautical Complex(PAC) Kamra, he claimed.

“After launching of BE electronic programme, we are also planning to start MS in computer sciences & management sciences very soon,” he said.

He said the CIIT Attock campus was established on April 4, 2004 with a view to imparting quality IT education among the youths of this district and its adjacent areas.

One of major achievements since its establishment is the launching of MS progarmme under which students had been enrolled in Fall 2010.

He said that despite financial constraints, they were working on enhancing labs, libraries and other required IT facilities at the all Comsats Institute of Information Technology campus.

The rector said all efforts were aimed at a pleasant and conducive environment in the campus for the faculty and students to ensure quality education and character building, discipline and personality grooming.
