KARACHI: Police say they have arrested four Taliban militants after a shootout, but four alleged insurgents escaped.

Senior police official Mohammad Aslam told reporters Wednesday that police raided the group in Karachi after receiving a tip. The militants were believed to be planning attacks in the city.

Police showed reporters four hooded men who they said were the suspects. They also displayed an explosives-laden sucide jacket, assault rifles and other weapons they said they recovered during the late Tuesday encounter.
