LARKANA, Oct 11: The People’s Party Parliamentarians retained all the four National Assembly and six Sindh Assembly seats in its leader Benazir Bhutto’s home district, Larkana, but it lost the two provincial assembly seats to the PML (Q) and independent candidates.

According to the results, obtained from the Election Commission sources, following are the election results of the district, that witnessed a triangular fight among the candidates of the People’s Party Parliamentarians, the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) and the National Alliance.

National Assembly:

NA-204 (Larkana-I): Mohammed Anwar Bhutto (PPP) secured 46,743 votes and defeated his rival, Peer Shah (PML-Q) who got 11,062 votes while Babu Sarfraz Jatoi (PML-N) received 5,649 votes.

NA-205 (Larkana-II): Hizbullah Bughio (PPP) won this seat by a narrow margin of 49 votes. He got 32,139 votes while his opponent, Haji Altaf Hussain Unnar (PML-Q), received 32,090 votes.

Begum Nusrat Bhutto had been winning this seat in the past.

NA-206 (Larkana-III): Khalid Iqbal Memon (PPP) returned on this seat by securing 36,928 votes and defeating Syed Asghar Ali Shah, a joint candidate of the NA and the Sindh Democratic Alliance, who bagged 31,841 votes.

NA-207 (Larkana-IV): The PPP’s Shahid Bhutto, a close relative of Ms Bhutto, captured this seat by obtaining 54,344 votes as his opponent, Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal got 26,154 votes.

Previously Ms Bhutto had been winning on this seat.

Provincial Assembly:

PS-35 (Larkana-I): Despite applying full force, the PPP could not retain this seat as Haji Altaf Hussain Unnar of the PML(Q) inflicted defeat on the PPP’s Ghulam Serwar Siyal. Unnar got 24,167 votes while Siyal secured 19,072 votes.

Previously Unnar and his brother, Haji Ghulam Hussain Unnar, had retained this seat.

PS-36 (Larkana-II): Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, president, PPP, Sindh, won this seat by securing 21,225 votes while his opponent, Jawed Mithani of the PML(Q) got only 4,218 votes.

Khuhro had won this seat in the last election by defeating chairperson of the PPP-SB, Ghinwa Bhutto.

PS-37 (Larkana-III): After a tough contest on this seat, Mohammed Ayaz Soomro of the PPP retained it by securing 29,176 votes and defeating the NA candidate, Amir Bakhsh Bhutto, son of Sindh National Front chief Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, who got 23,982 votes.

Amir Bakhsh had previously kept this seat.

PS-38 (Larkana-IV): Haji Munawwar Ali Abbasi (PPP), former Sindh minister, won from this seat by obtaining 22,034 votes while Syed Ali Raza Shah (PML-F) got only 8182 votes.

PS-39 (Larkana-V): Ghulam Mujaddid Isran, a former bureaucrat contesting on the PPP’s ticket, emerged victorious from this constituency by securing 14,232 votes while his rival, Ali Hassan Hakro (SDA), got 12,381 votes.

This seat had been with Ghulam Mujtaba Isran, the brother of the winner, in the previous polls.

PS-40 (Larkana-VI): Sultan Ahmed Khuhawar, an independent candidate, inflicted defeat on PPP nominee Ghulam Akbar Magsi by securing 16,156 votes. Magsi got 15204 votes.

In the last election, the seat was retained by Nadir Magsi, who supported Akbar this time.

PS-41 (Larkana-VII): A new face, Aziz Ahmed Jatoi, (PPP) won this seat by obtaining 21,787 votes while his rival, Allah Bakhsh alias Dado Unnar of the PML(Q) secured 19,139 votes.

PS-42 (Larkana-VIII): Najmuddin Abro of the PPP won this seat by getting 20,381 votes while his opponent, Faqir Parvez Ahmed Paichuho of the NA-SDA got only 5,090 votes.

Munawwar Abbasi had won this seat in the last election.
