CHAKWAL, Oct 12: Recounting of votes polled in NA-60 Chakwal-I, PP-20 and PP-21 constituencies will be held in the court of returning officer Syed Ikhlaq Ahmed on Sunday at 9am.

All the candidates have been directed to attend the proceeding.

The PML-N candidates — Ayaz Amir, Iffat Liaquat and Pir Shaukat Hussain Advocate — had moved an application before the returning officer, asking him to conduct recounting of votes polled at all the 369 polling stations in their constituencies. They further claimed that according to the results provided by their polling agents, they had been winning by a margin of three to six thousand votes, but, had still been declared unsuccessful in the unofficial results announced by the returning officer.

Meanwhile, under the rules laid down by the Election Commission, those elected to the assemblies as independents will have to join a political party within three days after formal notification of their success.
