TORONTO, Oct 12: Abdul Sattar Edhi has planned to establish a charitable network here with the initial investment of three million Canadian dollars.
To begin with, Mr Edhi and his ailing wife Bilquis Edhi have set up a shop here for the poor at a cost of one million Canadian dollars. The shop, opened in the heart of the city at Danforth Avenue, is the third of the 37 shops that the Edhi Trust has planned to set up in the next few years.
Two outlets, one each in New York and London, are already helping the needy people. The fourth one, says Mr Edhi, would soon be opened in Rome.
Speaking to Dawn here Mr Edhi said his organization would build a home for the destitute women and children in Toronto.
