LAHORE, March 26: Two painting exhibitions opened in the city on Saturday -- one at Aitchison College by Jimmy Engineer and the other a group show at Vogue Art Gallery opposite Allama Iqbal International Airport.

Jimmy Engineer’s exhibition titled “A Journey” was held at Aitchison College, which also marked beginning of the Founders Day celebrations of the 125-year old institution.

Thirty prints of the selected paintings including architectural compositions and six famous Pakistan Movement paintings series were on display. The exhibition was organised by the Art Society of the college.

The artist who had specially come from Karachi for the solo display of his selected works said: “The young students are the future hope of the country and it is the younger generation which has to build a united, progressive and forward-looking Pakistan.”

In the afternoon, Punjab Governor Sardar Muhammad Latif Khosa, who was the chief guest at the college’s Founders Day function, also visited the exhibition.Another exhibition -- a group show by over 100 artists from all over the country -- opened at Vogue Art Gallery. The gallery had previously held the exhibition last year.

The gallery situated opposite the airport has a huge area of display and artists have described it as a welcome addition to the vibrant scene of fine arts in the city.
