Day two of the four-day Pakistan Fashion Design Council (PFDC) Sunsilk Fashion Week, held in Lahore, included some of the bigwigs of the Pakistani fashion industry such as Sadaf Malaterre, Karma and Khaadi Khaas.
A total of 12 designers exhibited their work in the festival of colours and fabric. The ramp entrance was decorated with lovely green leaves and flowers tastefully adorned with illuminations - a gift from Karma, which was the opening label of the evening. The models who cat-walked were Sibal, Mehreen Syed, Nadia, Nooray, Rabia, Iraj, Fia, Amna, Zeba, Salina, Fauzia, Rubab and Humaima Malik. - Text from Dawn newspaper and photos by AP.

Did our forefathers die to stop these fashion shows from happening? Please for God's sake, wake up. Dont let these Talibanic thoughts come to your mind. If you don't like it, dont watch it. There are plenty of religious things happening in Pakistan too.

This is the unfortunate part of the affairs in Pakistan. Following West, we are giving up our values and taking a path to destruction. Taliban is one extreme and such indescent display of women is another. Each and everyone of us will be answerable to his/her Lord for what we did in this world. We do not want to make Pakistan, Talibanistan but we should not make it another UAE or a Western culture devoid of religious and cultural values.

If you don't like it then don't look you coward. You are very quick to criticize when there is no compulsion in Islam. Our forefathers meant Pakistan to be a home for persecuted Muslims not a fundo Islamic theocracy. Our forefathers died so we could have freedom from false moralists like you. Why don't you look in the mirror and then think about how you could better spend your time. How about cleaning up the filth in front of your house or volunteering at a hospital.

Our forefathers fought for a Pakistan where its people could be free.
Not for a Pakistan where the least gesture of freedom is promptly clamped down upon by the so-called Taliban.
Not for a Pakistan where minorities are persecuted simply because they do not conform to one sectarian mindset's idea of what Pakistan should be.
Not for a Pakistan where certain people would prefer the women to remain indoors clad in burqas rather than walk with pride, displaying the creative abilities of the country's dress designers.
If you'd like to go back to the Middle-Ages, that's your problem, not that of your forefathers.

Funny, how the people who are condemning these pictures are also the same people spending an inordinate amount of time commenting on how "bad" this is.

Moderate is fine, which most of the dresses seemed to be but picture # 3 was just obscene lol Yea everyone has a right to express themselves but that dress was a little too much to be worn around in an "Islamic Republic". Even girls here in America wear that stuff to only clubs, bars or parties where the whole point is to be as provocative as you can. Obviously there arent any clubs or bars in Pakistan so such short dresses i assume will be pretty much useless.

Great to see the creative work of our Pakistani Fashion designers. Frankly I'm truly impressed. Our Pakistani designers can certainly compete from Milan, Paris, London or New York. We are second to nobody. Greetings from Canada.

Guys relax and stop fighting once again..I wonder why do we all keep arguing over things that really are personal...We should all start looking into ourselves first, are we good human beings? do we lie? do we backbite eachother? are people safe from our tongue? Everyone goes into their graves and are accountable for their own deeds so if you got any problems with such things then get over it because you are not going be asked for these but for your own..In last ask yourself "what have I contributed for Pakistan?" trust me answer would be "nothing"

Its funny how quick people are to label others who do not approve of this so-called fashion as ‘cowards’. You are equally narrow-minded as you don’t respect their points of views. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and they have as much as right to disapprove as you have to approve. Their juxtaposition of this fashion show and our culture makes perfect sense .

You guys are doing well. keep it up and make Pakistan a modern and progressive state with freedom for all . bigotry and hate should be expunged from our society. Its high time we get rid of mullahs and doom & gloom prophets and go towards progress not dark ages. I appeal to young generation to take up the challenge and rid the society of regressive religious forces and adopt modern ideas to drive the country to modernity and progress
