NEW DELHI: Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva is in India for a daylong visit to promote trade, investment and security cooperation between the two countries.

Abhisit arrived in New Delhi early Tuesday and was met by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs says both leaders are scheduled to hold talks later Tuesday. Abhisit will also meet other Indian government officials and business leaders.

India and Thailand share a common maritime boundary and have seen a significant expansion of in trade and economic ties during the last decade.

The government says bilateral trade last year crossed $6.6 billion.
