MULTAN, April 5: The two cannibalism suspects confessed on Tuesday to having eaten five corpses dug out from a graveyard of the Darya Khan locality in Bhakkar district, police said. Police added section 7 of the Anti-Terror Act in a first information report (FIR) against the suspects – Farman, alias Mapha, and Arif, alias Aphal. Both suspects will be produced before an anti-terrorism court in Sargodha on Wednesday (today), it is learnt.

Earlier, Darya Khan Sadar police had lodged an FIR under section 16 of the Maintenance of Public Order, besides 295-A, 297 and 201 the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Ijaz Husain, the brother of deceased Saira Parveen whose newly-buried body was disinterred from her grave on Saturday night.

Later, the body was found in the house of suspects who had eaten its flesh in a curry. The incident panicked the residents of the town.

“We are interrogating the accused and we hope to learn more revelations,” investigation officer Fakharuz Zaman said.

He said the anti-terrorism act was added to the FIR because of prevailing anarchy, the fear spread by this incident and subsequent unrest in the people.

Arif told the police that his brother had brought the body after disinterring it from a grave in the village graveyard.
