KARACHI, April 13: Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) and NED University of Engineering and Technology (NEDUET) reached the final of the 9th AKU Inter-University Football Tournament at the AKU Football Ground here on Wednesday.

BUITEMS beat Hamdard University (HU) 5-0 in the first semi-final.

Zahoor Shah (11th, 42nd and 48th mins) scored a hat-trick with Jamshed Khan (second min) and Arsalan Khan (53rd min) adding one each.

In the other semi-final, NEDUET edged out hosts Aga Khan University (AKU) 2-1 although it was AKU that scored first.

The goals for the winners were scored by Areeb Ali (33rd min) and Rafay Fahim (37th min).

AKU’s lone goal was scored by Rehan Munir (fifth min).

Earlier, in the first quarter-final, NEDUET beat PNEC-NUST 2-0 with the goals coming from Jamshed Umer (third min) and Khizer Khan (49th min).

Yasin Lashari’s hat-trick in the fifth, 15th and 54th minutes enabled HU to thrash PAF-KIET 11-2 in the second quarter-final.

The rest of the goals for the winners were scored by Shahzad Afzal (third and 10th mins), Abdul Malik (second and 55th mins), Sir Syed (25th and 34th mins) and Nadir Ali (44th and 26th mins).

Ismail Javed (41st min) and Danish Hasan (53rd min) scored the goals for PAF-KIET.

Then in the third quarter-final, AKU beat Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) 4-2.

Rehan Munir (16th, 29th and 35th mins) scored a hat-trick and Jalaluddin Umar (19th min) added one.

Ali Zia (37th min) and Yawar Nabi (40th min) scored for SZABIST.

Finally, in the fourth quarter-final, BUITEMS outclassed Institute of Business Administration (IBA-United) 4-0 with the goals coming from Arslan Khan (15th min), Shahabuddin (22nd min), Zahoor Shah (28th min) and Shah Saud (46th min).
