Thanks for sharing this one. We have to remember people who are the real spirit of Pakistan apart from showing the politicians and so-called leaders (which I guess, you have to do even if you don't want to). The people like Dr. Saleem-uz-Zaman are real leaders, and they achieved something for our country and humanity. Because of people like these, I am a proud Pakistani and a proud KU-Chemistry Alumni.
Thanks
Mahmood

It is indeed heartening to read about a reputed scientist like Dr. Saleemuzzaman Siddiqui. He was responsible for encouraging the research and development activities in Pakistan. If I am not wrong it was he who layed the foundation of Pakistan Scientific and Industrial Research in Pakistan.
He was seen every day in his laboratory which was located on the campus of Karachi
University. He was a person who wanted Pakistan to excel in the modern sciences.
I am glad to read this posting, which indeed is long due appreciating a great scientist, although we frequently read about political figures only.

This man was the real asset. I seriously feel that English language has ruined our country. Kudos to Dawn news who brought it up.

Dr. Saleem-uz-Zaman was a real leader of Science and knowledge, a real leader is one who creates other leaders and system that survive and propser even after his death. Dr. Ata-ur-Rahman is one of his gems and HEJ is one of the greatest Chemistry institute. Dr. saleem served this country more than any political or religious leader. I urge DAWN to publish more on such personalities so that our youth should know that who are our real leaders. Whole Muslim world needs scholars like Dr Saleem-uz-Zaman rather than Jihadies. Science is real Jihad at this moment. I remember his sad death and I also remember that no political leader attended (in time of PPP gov) his funeral which is the greatest tragedy of our country.

I thank DAWN from the bottom of my heart for publishing this documentary about Dr.Saleem-uz-zaman siddiqui , who was our beloved grandfather( my grand father's brother ).I had the opportunity to know him as a loving dada and at work in the HEJ institute of karachi university. He would always have a word of wisdom for all of us whenever we got to meet him. I am proud to have seen him at work in the laboratory ,when he was probably 94 yrs old.
He was a great asset for Pakistan. It is a great honor for us to be related to him.

A very good work! Thanks to Dawn and everyone for keeping alive the part of history that unfortunately some of us would have never been aware of without this initiative. It is something I am proud of and will share with my friends here in Germany.

Dawn,
Thanks for highlighting the need for education in Pakistan. I am seeing more articles about scientific education. This may be the start of reminding our politicians the need for education. We will start reaping benefits within short period. India and China are living examples. Please keep emphasizing the need to improve our education system by reminding politicians the importance of education.

I remeber the on the day of demise of Dr. Sahib , or on the day of namaz e Jananzah ,
the Then Prime Minister Ms. Benazir bhutto (shaheed) just passed the NIPA chowrangi but did not have the time to go his home . It was largely highlighted in Print Meida ..
