QUETTA, April 19: A car bomb exploded near the offices of two NGOs on New Al-Gilani Road here on Tuesday morning.

Sources said two employees of one of the NGOs, who were in the office, were injured. Furniture and record of both the organisations were destroyed when their offices caught fire after the powerful blast.

A number of houses were badly damaged while windowpanes of several buildings were shattered.

Residences of provincial president of Jamhoori Watan Party Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti and provincial minister Maulvi Sarwar, located on the same road, were safe.

“It was a car bomb that destroyed the offices of two NGOs,” DIG Operations Hamid Shakeel told Dawn. He said the NGOs – Mehak and Tehrik – were working in health and education sectors in the province.

“It would be premature to say why these organisations have been targeted,” the DIG said.

The injured, identified as Haji Maqsood and Barkat Bibi, were taken to the Civil Hospital.

Two people were injured in Janiberri area of Sui when their bike hit a landmine.

The injured were taken to Sui hospital.
