ISLAMABAD: Nasir Iqbal from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Yasir Butt from Wapda steered into the final of the ninth Chief of Army Staff squash championship as they defeated their rivals at the Mushaf Squash Complex.

In the first semi-final, Yasir Butt hammered Farhan Zaman from Pakistan Air Force 3-0.

Yasir won 11-9, 11-9, 11-7 during the 30-minute encounter.

During the second semi-final, Nasir Iqbal from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa walloped Shoaib Hassan from Punjab.

Nasir played aggressive squash during the match and hardly give any room to Shoaib.

“I was confident right from the start of the first game. I played my natural game and focused on making every ball a tough one to pick for Shoaib and I successfully managed that,” Nasir Iqbal told Dawn after winning the semi-final.

“I maintained better rhythm even in the third game,” he said. Results (semi-finals): Yasir Butt (Wapda) bt Farhan Zaman (PAF) 11-9, 11-9, 11-7; Nasir Iqbal (KP) bt Shoaib Hassan (Punjab) 11-8, 11-7, 11-8.
