ISLAMABAD: In an important development for sports, the Cuban Ambassador to Pakistan, Jesus Zenen Buergo Concecion, has offered coaching exchange programme to Pakistan.

The offer was made by the Cuban ambassador during a meeting with federal sports minister Shaukatullah at the sports ministry here on Friday.

A press release issued by the sports ministry quoted Ambassador Concecion as saying: “We want more meaningful and improved relations in the field of sports and are willing to start coaching exchange program. Pakistan is a great sporting nation and possesses extraordinary talent in several sports.”

He said they would like to benefit from the rich experience of Pakistan would like to offer their services in baseball and volleyball, which are popular sports in Cuba.

The ambassador also invited the sports minister to visit the University of Sports in Cuba which conducts research in the field of sports and provides training to players and coaches from all over the world.

Previously, Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) hired a Cuban coach to train the national boxers. The coach, Francisco Hernandez proposed a programme  to take the pugilists to Cuba  and train them for international events.
