SWABI, April 28: Litigants faced great difficulties as lawyers here on Thursday boycotted courts in protest against what they alleged the uncooperative behaviour of the district and sessions judge.
The boycott call was given by Swabi Bar Association (SBA).“The lawyers want that the district and sessions judge should be transferred from the district immediately and we will continue our protest till the acceptance of our demand,” SBA president Ahmad Ali Khan told this correspondent. He said that none of the lawyers attended courts on Thursday and they would continue the boycott on Friday (today).
The ultimate sufferers of the lawyers strike were the people coming to the courts from far-off areas in connection with their cases.
“The lawyers don't care for the difficulties of litigants. They just tell us that the case hearing is being put back to a new date,” said visitors at the district courts.
The SBA also constituted a 10-member committee that would finalise the future line of action.
However, despite the hue and cry of lawyers the judges and other court staff remained on duty throughout the day. The staff of the judiciary alleged that the lawyers were making an unjust demand.
LOADSHEDDING: Traders of Razaar tehsil blocked the Swabi-Mardan road for over an hour to protest against the prolonged power outages and inflated electricity bills here on Thursday.

They claimed that transfer of some Pesco staff members from the tehsil could solve their problems.
After the senior Pesco officials assured them that loadshedding hours would be cut and issues like inflated bills would be resolved the protesters ended their strike and opened the road.
